Level Two: Heavy Restoration
Heavy Restoration includes the general clean-up of an image, with removal of color casts; major repair of scratches, cracks, and stains; and contrast enhancement and sharpening.

The first image shown was sharpened and brightened considerably. The original photograph was washed out. The background was smoothed to allow the baby to stand out. Major blemishes on the photo were removed or softened, including the large crease across the baby's face. The handwriting was also removed from the photo to give it a polished look.
The second image was taken indoors at a restaurant. The contrast was adjusted along with numerous scratches and dust spots. The background was darkened a bit to allow the figure to stand out. And several distracting items were removed from the table. |

This third image of three sisters was taken outside on a very bright day. Because the original image was scanned by the owner as a low resolution jpg file it was more difficult to edit and was in need of a contrast adjustment. We eliminated numerous dust spots/white specks and a major scratch across the entire photo. Sometimes, even with a low resolution jpg photo, we can improve the image considerably.

The fourth image of an US Army soldier was taken at a photo booth. We were able to sharpen and adjust the contrast as needed and correct numerous scratches, dust spots... we even fixed a broken tooth.
